FF: Harlem

With the huge success of their 2010 album ' Hippies', Harlem has been getting more and more love from all different directions. Pitchfork rated the album 8.1 just to give you a general idea of the album's appeal. It's that upbeat jump around on your bed lo-fi rock and roll. My favorite on the album BY FAR is 'Friendly Ghost', I just can't help but be exstatic when I hear that drum line. Not only has Harlem received massive blog-love, many magazines (Dazed & Confused, Nylon, Vice, etc.) have been promoting the album as well. Gorilla vs. Bear first drew me in with the single 'Gay Human Bones' in March 2010, and then later threw their album (released in April) into their fave albums of 2010 thus far. You might find them similar to Wavves, Beach Fossils, & even the early material from Hives. Though they're not as distorted as Wavves, not as surf-rock as Beach Fossil, and not as heavy as The Hives, they've fused into a feel all their own, and I like it. :)Here are my favorite tracks from the new album. (Check out their last.fm & facebook pages for more info.)

OH and p.s. Teen Daze released a cute lil' mixtape for Internation Tapes entitled 'sunset/dusk/night'. It's lost of chillwave, french house, and just pure lovely. ^_____________^

Teen Daze - Summer/Dusk/Night <33333
"Sunset.
We arrived in the city at the start of the sunset. Wandering around crowded sun swept streets, finding somewhere to get lost in our generation. We found the beat coming from the beach. We danced in the sand, shining water and orange all around us.
1. Lifelike – Sunset
2. Le Knight Club – Boogie Shell
3. Active Child – When Your Love Is Gone
Dusk.
We made a fire, told our stories and looked into each other’s eyes. We felt young, and dreamed of staying this way forever. We held hands, watched the moon come over the water, and dreamt of summer love.
4. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti – Can’t Hear My Eyes
5. Braids – Lemonade
6. Houses – Endless Spring
Night.
We found our way back to the train, and watched as the lights flew by. All our hopes, all our dreams, all our ambition; we just wanted to sleep. Tomorrow will bring the sun, so for now we’ll love the cold.
7. Memoryhouse – Bonfire
8. Neon Canyon – Photosynthesis"
